We are raising money for the Saartjie Baartman Centre for women and children abuse. The centre opened in 1999 and is run by the director, Bernadine Bachar. The Centre is situated in Manenberg on the Cape Flats and was named after a Khoikhoi woman who was brutalized due to her body. The vision of the SBCWC is the creation of a safe and secure society and a human rights culture, where women and children are empowered to exercise their full rights.
They offer Short and medium-term residential care, childcare services, counselling, mental health support, legal and economic empowerment services, children’s counselling, research in gender-based violence, Job Skills training, legal advice and provide a 24-hour emergency shelter.
