We have recognized gender-based violence as a real issue in our country and it must be addressed. It is important for women to feel safe and secure during such a difficult time. No woman should have to experience such. 76% of men said they’ve perpetrated gender-based violence at one stage in their lives, according to the Africa Health Organisation. 51% of Women in South Africa say they’ve experienced gender-based violence. In 2019-20, a total of 2 695 women were murdered in South Africa. Therefore this means a woman is murdered every three hours.
